A successful Charleston book launch complete. Charcuterie and champagne after, but still hungry. Missed my reservation at Allora, but I went late anyway. I craved a great dish of sketti. You can never go wrong with this resto! Fresh ingredients, pasta made daily, sauce, gelato, excellent wine list. But I was there for the simple beauty of spaghetti and a nice glass of Italian red, a Barbera. First I had the beef carpaccio, a thinner than thin sliced beef melting into my mouth, topped with crunchy fresh arugula and lemon olive oil dressing. Perfect! Did I mention the house made focaccia brought in a brown bag with EVOO? Oh yeah. I ordered a small side of the spaghetti, (not really on the menu). Oh mamma mia. Bright tangy sauce topped with fresh parm, al dente spaghetti perfectly cooked. Oh Madonna!
