A simple pleasure of living a few minutes from Sullivan’s Island is the bounty of dining at The Obstinate Daughter. The restaurant’s name comes from a celebration of spirit, sass and determination of Miss Carolina Sullivan. Sullivan’s Island, with its rich history, is the perfect backdrop for this Lowcountry “Food Fort.” A cool weather evening required a pizza on this visit. Choosing the Miss Carolina, with fresh red and yellow tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and olive oil is divine simplicity. Crispy crust, creamy mozzarella, tangy fresh local tomatoes – one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tasted. The lettuce salad (also local of course) with croutons, parmesan, buttermilk vinaigrette and egg is sublime. Never a bad meal at this fine dining establishment, where we sat outside and people watched some of the folks who hail from Southern Charm.
