A weather change overnight resulted in a 30 degree temp drop, burrrr. My go-to resto was guaranteed to warm my bones. The Obstinate Daughter never disappoints. Influenced by Spanish, French and Italian cuisine with a wood-fired oven, plancha and island kitchen range, the focus is on pizza, pasta, raw bar and small plates. Inasmuch as it was freezing out, I ordered the Frogmore Chowder –a quintessential Charleston dish with a side of flatbread. Ahhh, freshly baked flatbread, soft and warm from the wood fired oven, with olive oil and salt. OMG! But the chowder. Creamy base, fresh crunchy corn, local Tarvin shrimp, potatoes, local farm sausage sourced in Charleston, all the flavors perfectly melding to a superb meal. Service extraordinaire!
