Pawleys Crepe
Not your average corner store, established 1922. This is the theme for the Queen Street Grocery, which has been “a little spicy bit of everything over the past hundred years.” Many friends suggested I stop in on my jaunts to Charleston. I have done so twice and not been disappointed. I sit outside in my car and eat before I depart, or sit inside the tiny wooden former apothecary, with wooden tables, where everything but the food is self serve. The menu items, prepared with fresh local ingredients, are: Crepes, Hot Pressed Sammies, Smoothies, and Salads. This sunny morning I had the Pawleys Savory Crepe stuffed with fresh turkey, crunchy asparagus, spinach and mushrooms. I hungrily demolished the dish while sipping a rehydrating drink that was tremendous. They also serve Holy City local craft beer and unique wines. Make a picnic!
