Walleye Burger
The Walleye was cooked perfectly with the skin crispy crunchy, the fish moisty flaky, enveloped with lemon aioli, tomato, Napa cabbage slaw, and pickled red onion, packaged in a chewy soft bun. After the first bite my tastebuds cried out, “Why didn’t you order two of these?” Flavor, texture, and eye appeal converged into perfection. The fingerling potatoes with their thin, toasted skins, puffy hot tater filling, and gooey cheese slathering, complemented the Walleye with subtle confidence. Not to be outdone, the Caesar salad was stand up, pay me attention, give me my due. Fresh-off-the-farm lettuce, out of the oven croutons (you want to order as separate take-home), sprinkled with nutty parmesan slices dressed not to surprise, but to spawn memories. For me it was decades ago at the NJ shore, when my brother Natie and my father teamed up to make Caeser salad, clams casino, and rib eye steaks for someone’s birthday. Basi delivers delish and cherished memories.
