Tadigh
I thought my brother-in-law told me we were going to Brigadoon, and our experience at Maydoon Persian Restaurant was kinda like visiting a mystical village. Everyone we encountered – host, busser, server, bartender – seemed genuinely happy to see us. That warmth, plus the boozy inventive cocktails and delicious and fresh Persian dishes, made us never want to leave. But the dish that will keep us coming back was the Tadigh appetizer. Crispy rice from the bottom of the pot (that I dare you to stop eating) topped with beef, yellow split peas and dried lime in a saffrony sauce (gheymeh). The crunch of the rice, the spice of the beef, the punch of the sauce – this was the appetizer of our dreams. And maybe we did dream it?
