Orange County is a big place. And as an out-of-towner, I’d assume there’s good Mexican on every corner. The question is, which one? We ended up at this buzzy outdoor eaterie in Costa Mesa and all I could think was “these are beautiful people.” That was until the beautiful food arrived. I went simple: steak tacos! The chunks of carne asada were tender and flavorful, the rice fluffy and the frijoles, right on! What made it so fundamentally Cailfornia were those two chunks of fresh avocado smiling up at me. Even if they did that in NYC, it would not taste so darned fresh and good.
