Paella
A San Diego institution since 1971, Tom Ham’s Lighthouse is a stunning architectural marvel. The restaurant is situated on the western tip of Harbor Island with sweeping views of the bay and downtown skyline. Built around the originally functioning U.S. Coast Guard “Beacon #9,” Tom Ham infused his love of California history and adventure into the restaurant’s design, shaping it in the form of the state itself. One of my favorite dishes to order here is their excellent Paella. Made with saffron rice, fish, shrimp, chicken, chorizo, mussels, clams, peas and peppers. Such a kaleidoscope of wonderful flavors and textures.
