Oysters on the Half Shell
The anticipation was killing me as I arrived early for the dinner reservation. Heading upstairs to the bar, I noticed the crowd had a local vibe. Chatting with the knowledgeable staff, sipping an excellent Martini, I jived to the hip music. The new paradigm in Southeastern coastal cuisine is shared here with a pride in being part of a community the owners and purveyors crafted. But the bold, unique flavors are the headlines in this resto. The oysters with beet mignonette, horseradish labneh and smoked trout roe and dill spring garnish, was superb. I’ve never tasted anything like it. The beef tartare with homemade house chips, so tasty. My friend had the seared scallops with fresh vegetable and basil sauce, which was outstanding. The wine list has depth and all was enjoyed with a chilled Sancerre and smooth French red. A popular place, reservations are suggested.
