Italian Sipping Chocolate
Asheville’s River Arts District is all about locally made art, and tucked into Depot Street beside polka-dotted pottery and playful black-bear paintings is Piccolina, a barebones mom-and-pop spot serving a tiny menu of exceptional food. On a chilly day, this mugful of hot chocolate is blissful — velvety and just-sweet thanks to dark chocolate. The topper? A toasted-to-black oversized housemade marshmallow masterminded by pastry chef and co-owner Elana Pearlman, who runs the Italian restaurant with her husband, chef- partner Nathan Pearlman.
