Double Kobe Smashburger
I had to go back to the menu to figure out what made this double cheeseburger so darned good. Was is the as-advertised Kobe beef? Just the right amount of special sauce? (Who knows what’s in it. Trust me, it was special). The cheese was melted just right, but that wasn’t it. Perhaps the seasoning on their griddle? I haven’t replaced the grill on my Weber since Obama was in office. It definitely has flavor. No, it was something else. This indescribable CRUNCH. The menu says “fried onion.” I think that’s it. Chopped, tasty little flavor bombs of crunchy goodness in every bite. Primo outdoor table in artsy Lincoln Square. Warm spring sunshine. A waiter walked by with a refreshing-looking pint glass of something red-syrup-infused. “Strawberry lemonade,” he replied. We are going back!
