Get your kicks, on Route 66! We did, on a perfect Saturday afternoon for a drive, meandering down the original 2-lane highway from Chicago until our stomachs told us to pull off. Nestled on the Vermilion River, Pontiac is home to a Rte. 66 Museum, an 1875 county courthouse, 3 swinging pedestrian bridges, and this! The Smashed Double Cheeseburger. Pressed, salty meaty goodness slathered in special sauce, cheese perfectly melted, and a crisp pickle crunch in every bite. Were one to continue the full length of Route 66, this sets the bar for the burgers you might hope to encounter.
