When you’re raised in a NYC coffee shop and you cross the Iowa/Nebraska state line and see a sign that says “Omaha’s Best Burger,” you better believe you’re burning rubber as you pull off the interstate! The server at the takeout line told me the Haystack is their most popular offering. I obliged. The burger is topped with thin-sliced grilled ham, a flattened fried egg, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and a smear of mayo. Complex and yet disarmingly simple, every bite was a juicy pleasure. Wash it down with a cold fountain root beer and say Helllooo Nebraska!
