Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine, located at the Pendry Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter, is back – open for outdoor dining, and they have a beautiful expanded patio with plenty of space heaters! Native San Diego chef Jojo Ruiz does it again with creative and delicious Asian-inspired dishes. His two restaurants, Lionfish and Serea, are the only restaurants in San Diego to have been awarded the James Beard Certified Smart Catch Leader in recognition of his commitment to sustainable seafood practices. Lionfish serves up some of the best siu mai! My favorite dishes here, in addition to the siu mai, are the lobster carpaccio and scallops. The picture says it all.
