It is truly a “G’day, Mate” at this nonprofit Australian restaurant near the 12 South neighborhood, because they exist not only to create awesome dishes like the Rockin Moroccan Salad, but also to house, rehab, train and hire those that find themselves “down on their luck.” This complex and well-constructed dish is so flavor forward! The Moroccan orange chicken and fresh orange slices are at center stage, nestled on a bed of crisp spring mix, then sprinkled with scallions, carrots slivers and the most amazing chutney candied almonds. All of the flavors are broad and varied enough to make every bite new, but they really come together when suspended in the sweet champagne pear vinaigrette. At the Cookery, what they cook warms your tummy, but what they do warms your heart.
