Chicken Salad Sandwich
The hand-lettered marquee outside the Nolensville Feed Mill says “TOP RATED CHICKEN SALAD.” No lie detected! The 120-year-old Feed Mill is a renovated Amish country market south of downtown Nashville, perched on Mill Creek in historic Nolensville. The market sells fresh produce, Amish baked goods, honey, flavored popcorn and other delectables, but make a beeline across the old wooden floors to the deli counter and order a sandwich. I always choose the chicken salad with cranberries on wheat bread with lettuce and tomato. The savory chicken is just-right, creamy and enhanced –but not overpowered – by celery. It’s the best chicken salad I’ve had. A bag of chips complements the sandwich nicely. On your way out you can take home some sweet treats, maybe even a pint of ice cream from Nash Family Creamery in nearby Chapel Hill.
