When I think of Greenville, Texas, I’ve never thought of Italian food. But I will from now on. Tony’s is absolutely authentic: pasta handmade daily, fettuccine perfectly al dente and clearly hand-thrown. Massive portions come piled high with intricately spiced sausage and marinated chicken that’s juicy and full of flavor. Their homemade red sauce ties everything together. Fresh vegetables—mushrooms, peppers, onions—add texture and depth to every bite. And then there were the homemade Italian rolls. Pure heaven, perfectly rounded and warm enough to melt the butter instantly. This meal could have been served in Rome itself, but it’s right here in East Texas and it’s one I won’t forget.
