Monastiraki is a town located in Athens, Greece. While I’ve never been, this beef gyro made me want to pay a visit. The moment I was handed the plate, my nose was overwhelmed by the Mediterranean aroma of tzatziki sauce generously loaded onto the beef souvlaki, tauntingly placed on top of soft pita bread. The flavors did not disappoint! The combination of textures was delectable: the softness of the bread with the contrasting toughness of the meat and occasional crunch of purple onions here and there. Although I am not particularly a fan of raw onions, the natural strength of them did not distract from the harmonies of the other ingredients. I would definitely order this again and recommend it to a friend as well!
