Tucked inside the wharf off a busy Newport street, you see a sign that says “Mokka Coffeehouse.” According to their website, Mokka comes from the  Arabic word MAQKAH which literally translates to ‘Where the coffee is.’ My friends and I followed the sign and found a quaint courtyard with ample shade off the main drag.  I went for the Morning BLT and when I asked if I could switch out the bulkie roll for an English muffin the server said, “We don’t allow substitutions.” Then I’ll have the bulkie roll! It was perfect for the sandwich. Crisp lettuce, ripe tomato and well done bacon on top of a fried egg with just the right amount of mayo. I added hot sauce (what’s a good breakfast sandwich without hot sauce?) and savored every bite.
