Bonsai Tree
Amidst a cluster of Japanese spots in popular Adams Morgan, we stumbled upon an outdoor table on a pleasant evening off the main drag and hubbub of 18th Street. The menu is sushi, sashimi and ramen rich. I was drawn to this colorful chef’s special roll, encompassing all my favorites: tuna, salmon and yellowtail, with avocado and the crunch of tobiko added in for the overall experience. The preparation was so sublime that it took me a moment to realize the whole thing was held together in a wrapper of ultra thinly-sliced cucumber. A resfreshing experience accompanied by a tall Sapporo beer.
